1. Assess & quote before you start. Take a look at the headlights, snap a "before" photo (you'll want this for your marketing later), and confirm the price with your customer before you touch the drill.
2. Tape off the surrounding area. Mask the paint and trim around the headlight so you don't risk sanding anything but the lens.
3. Start with the roughest grit disc on the drill mandrel. Work the lens in slow, overlapping passes until the heavy oxidation and yellowing are gone. Don't rush this step — it's what the rest of the job depends on.
4. Step down through each grit, one at a time, working finer each pass. Each grit's job is to remove the scratches left by the one before it — skipping grits shows up in the final finish.
5. Finish with the polishing pad to bring back full clarity and shine. This is where the "wow" factor shows up.
6. Wipe the lens completely clean with the microfiber cloth, then apply a polishing compound and buff in with foam pads. This step is what makes your work last instead of fogging back up in a few months — don't skip it.
